Dear Michael,
how are you? today I’m going to tell you about the second lesson of history of music of which I told you in the last letter. I’m glad that you liked this idea!
This time the teacher told us about white European music. White Americans, particularly those of English, Irish and Scottish descent, brought their musical tradition with them. Many families used to sing and play together after dinner in the evening. These people sang the ballads of their countries of origins and religious music. In the 1940s and 1950s this music developed into Country and Western music, which was only for white American audiences.
I wait for your reply to know your comments!
I’ll write you soon about the other lessons.
Your Friend,
Marco
